ACHES has been set up to promote, enhance, and protect human and environmental wellbeing. ACHES provides a forum to highlight and advance the truth about legal, medical and scientific information relating to current and emerging technologies. Our ‘Weekly Picks’ summarise the most relevant news pieces from our partners and collaborators to raise awareness of the health harms caused by such technologies, and offer much-needed solutions to enhance our health.
Children’s Back-to-School Toolkit
In September, as children go back to school, it is an important time to empower parents with information to advocate for healthier learning environments. This week, the Children’s Health Defense (CHD) has put together an information pack to educate on the harms of unnecessary radiofrequency (RF) exposure. In the classroom, children are in very close proximity to Wi-Fi, wireless devices and, in some communities, cell towers near schools and playgrounds. Tens of thousands of independent scientific studies have reported biological and health effects associated with RF radiation, including findings related to cancer, fertility, neurological function, learning, memory and sleep. There are ways that parents can take action this school year, which include:
1. Meet with your School Administrators – Download educational flyer, PowerPoint and speaker notes to present at the next school board, PTA, or PTO meeting to help educate your community.
2. Share CHD presentation – Use CHD’s PowerPoint and speaker notes
3. Sign this Action Alert – Urge the FCC to update RF exposure guidelines to reflect today’s science and technology.
4. Share Your Story – Email your stories and photos to https://www.704nomore.org/contact-us for the opportunity to be featured in Community News & Views.
5. Join 704 No More® – Become part of a growing movement advocating for safer tech and more informed community decision-making.
Outdoors for Better Scores
In a recent piece in the Telegraph, a study by researchers at the University of Exeter has shown that children play outdoors unsupervised for fewer than 25 minutes per week. Not only does this mean a significant number of children are deprived of social or playtime with friends, but they are not outside in open spaces or fresh air – an environment conducive for both optimal physical and mental health, and happiness. In the past 2–3 decades, schools have cut outdoor playtime, and physical after-school activities have dwindled, replaced with children glued to their screens. A HHS Live Real Life Symposium is sobering: teenagers spend an average of 7.5 to 9 hours in front of screens. This is why the OFF Manifesto holds such attraction and helpful advice to encourage adults and children to disengage with technology. Stroll into nature – instead of scrolling screens. Learn more about the OFF Movement on how to get involved in multiple collaborative initiatives.
Do EMFs Get Under Your Skin?
In her Substack, Patricia Burke for Safe Tech International links to some studies or repositories, which aimed to assess whether EMFs and microwave radiation could harm human organs and tissues subjected to 2.4 GHz frequencies and higher GHz (5G) frequencies. As Patricia notes, under laboratory and not real-life conditions, the pro-industry researchers grew skin samples in a petri dish and/or generated spherical models of tissues to test for heating or temperature effects – but not electrical interference, pollution or biological effects – to justify EMF/5G safety. Sadly, Patricia concludes the data “could not be more wrong in ignoring the power and integrity of the natural electromagnetic environment that sustains the resonance of our individualized life force as it alchemizes with the creative active intelligence of the Cosmos, and throughout each organism, and in relationships with others”. Canada: Stepping Up Its Objections to Cell Tower Decisions
On Tuesday 1 September, A Call to Action was issued by Frank Clegg and other campaigners to educate Canadians of the sweeping changes that allow the erection of cell towers infrastructures anytime and anywhere without public notification. Canadians for Safe Technology are encouraging concerned residents to submit comments by the 22 September 2026 deadline, and to sign a related petition.
Italy’s Supreme Court Strengthens Consumer Rights on Cell Phone Safety
Some good news has just been announced just a few days ago on the website Environmental Health Trust. On 24 July 2026, the Supreme Court in Italy handed down a ruling that strengthens consumer rights around cell phones and a wide range of other technology. The case was brought about by an Italian woman who purchased an iPhone in 2016. She stated that Apple had failed to provide her with adequate information or to recommend precautions about possible risks of extensive iPhone use and related exposure to radiofrequency radiation emissions. Her lawyer, Fabio Cardanobile, successfully argued that consumer information is itself a legally protected right. This ruling means that even if scientific evidence concerning health effects is not yet conclusive, consumers should receive relevant information that allows them to make informed choices about how they use a product. This sets a precedent that scientific uncertainty is not a good enough reason for a manufacturer to say nothing. This is a big win for consumers and health campaigners alike who are concerned about the potential radiation harms from technology products. Read the full story here.
