ACHES has been set up to promote, enhance, and protect human and environmental wellbeing. ACHES provides a forum to highlight and advance the truth about legal, medical and scientific information relating to current and emerging technologies. Our ‘Weekly Picks’ summarise the most relevant news pieces from our partners and collaborators to raise awareness of the health harms caused by such technologies, and offer solutions and guidance to help enhance our health.
EMR Syndrome Alliance: Comments Deadline 21 October 2026
The EMR Syndrome Alliance, which recently launched a new website for people injured or disabled by manmade electromagnetic radiation, has highlighted some very encouraging news. The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued an all-important Request for Information to help identify and access the current state of the scientific evidence on radiofrequency radiation (RFR) and electromagnetic field (EMF) exposures and health outcomes. This is many years overdue: experts have been calling out the health harms from RFR and EMF exposures, and campaigned for updated scientific evidence about public safety concerns related to EMR exposure. This latest Request for Information will help shape safety standards, regulatory guidelines, research gaps, as well as evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, public health stakeholders, families, schools, and communities. Submit your comments here as soon as possible. The deadline is Wednesday 21 October 2026. Note you do NOT need to live in the US to submit comments. See full story here.
Don’t Miss EMR Syndrome Alliance Workshop re: HHS
We have raised awareness in previous posts, that the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has launched a formal inquiry into the potential health effects of wireless radiation. This will examine radiation from cellphones, cell towers, 5G and other technologies. The deadline for comments from the public is 21 October 2026. While it is important to not miss this deadline, completing the information correctly is vital. It is important that your comments are strategic and impactful, and increase the chances that the FCC will not dismiss them. Therefore, the EMR Syndrome Alliance is offering two workshops to provide guidance. These workshops will take place Monday 5 October at 7:30pm and Friday 16 October 16 at 12.00 noon (both Eastern Time).
Health Professionals for Safer Screens
It is important to bring together new or greater evidence, plus practical resources to help protect children in an increasingly digital world. As we have highlighted previously, many children in England are spending their time indoors scrolling on devices and less time outside interacting and socialising face-to-face. The organisation Health Professionals for Safer Screens has created ReDirection Youth, a free and anonymous resource to protect young people concerned about predatory behaviour online. There is also a new, free learning series: view here for more details. Even the UK Government is acting and has issued proposals, and fact sheets containing new rules to protect children online, with a proposed social media ban to begin in March 2027.
EH Trust Pressure That Forced FCC to Respond
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) essentially makes clear that it only began responding to the D.C. Circuit Court’s 2021 remand in Environmental Health Trust v. FCC because it was forced to do so. As ACHES has reiterated many times, the FCC’s outdated 1996 radiofrequency wireless radiation exposure limits are still in place. The latest response from the FCC is a direct result of legal pressures applied by the Environmental Health Trust, which will submit additional scientific, medical, environmental, legal and economic evidence to the FCC and the Department of HHS, and update the court as appropriate.
No iPad for Prince George at Eton
Prince George, who has enrolled into Eton College, will not be able to use school-issued iPads following newly imposed stricter controls by the college. This is because parents raised alarms about their sons developing unhealthy screen habits. For first-year pupils at the prestigious Berkshire-based school, fresh guidelines will be adhered to that carefully regulate how and when pupils may use their devices. Under the latest rules, boys will have restricted browsing on a purpose-built secure browser limited to a list of websites vetted and approved by the teachers. The policy overhaul follows complaints from parents in 2024 about concerns pupils accessed gaming and unrestricted content during lessons and after-lesson time. In December 2024, over 100 parents collectively wrote to the school’s provost (Sir Nicholas Coleridge) to express their dissatisfaction about the existing device and internet policy. Our Unplug to Uplift and Off Movement stories support these latest developments to limit the internet in schools.
The National Call for Safe Technology: Save Copper Landlines
As always, Patricia Burke for Safe Tech International has covered multiple topics and updates. Her latest post relates to the proposed plans to remove copper landline services across the USA. National Call and others nationwide have received discontinuation notices to remove landlines. Courtesy of the National Call for Safe Technology a survey has been set up so as many people as possible can convey their concerns via the Landline Survey. Responses will remain anonymous, and information collected will be used by National Call and others to provide ways to clarify complex issues, and offer ways to take action. See the Save Landlines petition and Telecom Action.
Together Action: Freeze One Login
The national Digital ID scheme was stopped, but government digital identity infrastructure is still possible through One Login. The Together Declaration is calling for the following:
1. An immediate freeze on One Login rollout pending a genuinely independent review; 2. Proper parliamentary oversight and strict safeguards; 3. A statutory guarantee protecting free and genuinely equivalent non-digital routes. Sign their petition here.
